"...I had forgotten all about the prediction when, on a beautiful summer's evening in 2004, I caught a glimpse of Andrea on the square in Montemerano, and instantly knew that my fate had caught up with me.  I didn't know a word of Italian, but in disregard of all reason and under the sole command of my heart, I went back to Copenhagen, struggled to learn Italian, gave notice at my job and sold my flat, car and belongings..."

"Andrea made his living from being the local carpenter and joiner, he restored houses and antiques, and in his free time he applied his artistic talents to making the most beautiful cutting boards and furniture.  Samina didn't fall in love just with the man, but with the Aladdin's cave of beautiful hand tools, antiques and curiosities, and exquisite unique creations..."

We love Fushi!

New in the APOTHECARY section of the emporium is a line of all natural health and beauty products called "Fushi." Based in London, the company sources their high-quality, fair trade ingredients from all over the world.

We use and love their essential oils, base oils, lip balm and hair care products and have been looking forward to trying much more.

Alex and I can't say enough good things about this company and my mom is a new fan, too.  For her birthday we sent her the "Luscious Locks" repair kit and she reported back that it has done wonders for her hair.  She was complaining that it was dry and lifeless and she says it is now soft and healthy looking adding, "I think I even have more hair now if that is possible."

The ingredients in the Luscious Locks Hair Repair Kit include two of my favorite essential oils,

I predict sweet dreams and blissful mornings...

This simple room is proof that a rejuvenating, "feel-good" space is well within reach for most of us.
  • unadorned plaster walls
  • natural light
  • crisp white linens
  • sensuous blankets/throws
key descriptors:
tactile, natural, fresh, uncontrived

A "FEEL-GOOD"  MOVIE RECOMMENDATION:
Mamma Mia!
Dismiss any criticism you might have heard about the movie and just allow it to be what it is:  a light-hearted romp filled with charm and silly humor and songs that will lift your spirits and send you dancing around your house for several days after.   Tip:  Set the DVD to play in the background as you tend to your household chores.   —You won't be sorry. *   :)

For Gita:

Thank You For The Music (MP3 download)

*A favorite movie quote:
Janeane Garofalo as Vicki Miner, Reality Bites
"Can you turn this up, please? Please?  You won't be sorry."

Love these images from Mark and Sally Bailey's
{simple home} -calm spaces for comfortable living.

The book was first published in 2009, but I somehow missed it.  I just purchased it yesterday and have been immersed in its pages since.  We share much of the same design philosophy and approach to living.

It's safe to say that anyone who enjoys l&l will love this book.

I'm also just learning of their first book {recycled home}

It apparently received many accolades as well including being named one of the "Top ten interior books available" by the editor of House and Garden. —Where have I been?

You can now find both books in the emporium

I'm off to order recycled home for myself.
Make it a great day!
