Musings on light and letter-writing...

Light-filled bedroom via Art et Decoration as seen on linen and lavender

Loving the light in this bedroom and the downy white duvet  . . .so inviting.  I can see myself lingering with a favorite book in the morning or inspired to write a good old-fashioned letter here.
What a treasure the handwritten letter these days.
Such a rarity in our modern age, it hardly matters how eloquently composed —the feat itself makes poignant work of any prose!

I predict sweet dreams and blissful mornings...

This simple room is proof that a rejuvenating, "feel-good" space is well within reach for most of us.
  • unadorned plaster walls
  • natural light
  • crisp white linens
  • sensuous blankets/throws
key descriptors:
tactile, natural, fresh, uncontrived

A "FEEL-GOOD"  MOVIE RECOMMENDATION:
Mamma Mia!
Dismiss any criticism you might have heard about the movie and just allow it to be what it is:  a light-hearted romp filled with charm and silly humor and songs that will lift your spirits and send you dancing around your house for several days after.   Tip:  Set the DVD to play in the background as you tend to your household chores.   —You won't be sorry. *   :)

For Gita:
I Have A Dream (MP3 download)
Thank You For The Music (MP3 download)
sung by Amanda Seyfried, Mamma Mia!

*A favorite movie quote:
Janeane Garofalo as Vicki Miner, Reality Bites:
"Can you turn this up, please? Please?  You won't be sorry."

Hotel Feature - Le Chaufourg

Le Chaufourg
en Périgord,  Dordogne

In the heart of the Périgord, overlooking the Isle river is the 17th Century manor house photographer Georges Dambier converted to a romantic hotel in the late 80's.

. . . . .

Georges Dambier was 20 when the Second World War came to an end, a moment when the social scene in Paris suddenly took off. Nightlife, subdued during the Occupation, exploded. Le Bœuf sur le toit, Le Lido, la Rose Rouge, Le Lorientais, Le Tabou : he frequented cabarets and jazz clubs in Saint Germain des Prés, where famous artists and celebrities organised glittering parties and balls. One night, he managed to take pictures of Rita Hayworth who had come incognito to a famous night club, Le Jimmy’s. He sold the exclusive images to France Dimanche, a daily magazine recently created by Max Corre and Pierre Lazareff, and won himself a job on the magazine as a photo-reporter. In his new post, he was sent to all over the world to cover current events. However, with his predilection for graphic design and aesthetics, his liking for refined mise-en-scene, and at the urging of many friends, such as Capucine, Suzy Parker, Jacques Fath, Bettina, Brigitte Bardot, Jean Barthet, he was led towards fashion photography.   -excerpt from Georges Dambier website, continued [here]
