Update May 2012:
This is an image I found in one of my older Côté Sud Magazines. I cropped it and manipulated it a bit to increase the "watery" appearance of the old glass that I love so much. (By the way, if you don't subscribe to this magazine already, you really should! I highly recommend it. Unfortunately, I'm not able to offer it in the emporium just yet, but click on the magazine title and you'll be taken directly to the subscription website.)
Anyway, I was just thinking today how interesting it is to see the popularity of certain classically beautiful images. I posted this back in March of 2010 and it remains one of my favorite images as well as one of the most popular images re-posted/pinned by my fellow bloggers and readers. (You'll see Christine of Greige's comment below. She liked it so much she went on to use it in her header.) It's one of those compositions you never tire of looking at, it's always inspiring.
This kind of timeless appeal is what linen & lavender is about for me and why I elected to remove the dates from my post header. I seek to house images here at l&l that one can return to again and again, each time feeling that connection and emotional response.
The title linen & lavender represents those special spaces and places that offer far more than the sum of their parts. It is the linen and it is the lavender, but more so it's the magical space between I'm talking about.
xo~

I love the clean lines and almost industrial quality of this photo.
There's something elegant in the repetition of a number...shown here with 3. (the 3 orbs, 3 vessels & so on)
I think you are my design twin. I know that there is a name for that but I love all of the images.. Thank you for sharing!
Donna,
Thank you for your interesting observation. I think it is fascinating to analyze/understand what creates a specific energy in a room --making us feel a certain way in that space whether we are aware of it consciously or not. Thanks for sharing! ~LeAnn
Christina,
Maybe "kindred spirit?"(!) I am flattered as I also admire your creative endeavors with Greige. Keep up the good work and let's keep in touch! ~lb
